Simple, Sustainable Living

Living a simple, sustainable life is fundamentally fulfilling and satisfying. This way of life brings freedom from unnecessary complications and a deep sense that we are responsible for ourselves, for our actions and for our impact on the world around us. We can live lightly and reduce our impact on the environment by making conscious choices about what we do and living intentionally every day. This also brings us back to what is meaningful in life and gives space for the things that really matter.

We can get caught up in the mainstream, "normal" way of life, swept along by the inertia of expectations, tempted by influences designed to attract us to following a certain path. Often it can be difficult to find alternatives and to figure out other ways of doing things, but these alternatives are becoming more common and it is getting easier and easier to step out of the path of the current that is sweeping us along without our having the chance to choose our direction, and instead find we are free to decide our own ways. And we can find others also taking these other paths, to help us on our way, and we can all invent new ways together.

I have been working towards living more simply and sustainably for many years now. I have always cared about the environment, the health of our planet, but I didn't always know about the ways of doing things that I now know are possible. I hope to share what I have learnt with as many people as possible, to help us all help each other to live more lightly and multiply the good effects of our choices.

I will be writing more about this as I go with the aim of sharing my learning. In the mean time, if you have any questions or comments about simple, sustainable living, please feel free to comment below or contact me. I am very happy to help us all work forward together on this.
